Language Detection via IP Address
To display the website in the appropriate language for you, we use IP-based geolocation on your first visit. For this purpose, your IP address is sent once to the service ipapi.co (Kloudy GmbH, Austria) to determine your country. Your IP address is not stored for this purpose. The processing is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in a user-friendly presentation of our website.
AI Visibility Check (free tool)
At /en/tools/ki-sichtbarkeit-check/ we offer a free tool that tests whether AI assistants can fetch and process a website. Using it requires neither an account nor an email address.
What is processed. You enter a domain and optionally select an industry. Our server then retrieves four publicly accessible addresses on that domain (homepage, robots.txt, llms.txt, sitemap.xml) and evaluates them against fixed rules. The result is shown to you and is not permanently linked to you.
Protection against automated requests. Instead of a captcha service we use a computational method (proof of work): before submitting, your browser solves a small computation you will not notice. No cookies are set, no device characteristics are read and no data is transmitted to third parties. The task is issued and verified by our own server; no external provider is involved.
Usage limit. To prevent misuse as a bulk scanner, we limit checks to five per hour and fifty per day per connection. For this, your IP address is not stored in clear text but used solely as a cryptographic one-way value (shortened SHA-256) serving as a counter key. That value expires automatically after one hour or just over one day respectively. We expressly note that a hashed IP address is considered pseudonymised rather than anonymous under data protection law. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in preventing abusive use and maintaining uninterrupted operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Anonymous statistics. Where enabled, we store one data point per checked domain, consisting of a one-way value of the domain, the result, the optionally selected industry and the date. The domain itself is not stored in clear text, and the data point contains no information about the person who ran the check. These data points serve exclusively for statistical analysis of AI discoverability among German mid-sized companies, which we may publish in aggregated form. They are deleted after 400 days at the latest. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in statistical analysis (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Processing and location. Processing takes place in the infrastructure of our host Cloudflare (see the Hosting section). No data is passed to third parties, and no cookies are set for this tool.
Note on checking third-party domains. You may also check domains you do not own. Only publicly accessible pages are retrieved, exactly as any search engine crawler does daily. No content is modified and no data beyond that of an ordinary page visit is transmitted to the checked website.
